The court revokes bail and remands the former El-Rufai aide.

After his bail was revoked, Bashir Saidu, the former chief of staff to former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, was placed under remand in a Kaduna State detention facility.

Following developments during Wednesday’s court sessions, Saidu—who is accused of a number of offenses, including financial misconduct—was placed back under arrest.

The judge ordered his remand awaiting the trial’s continuation next month, according to people familiar with the case.

“It is true that his bail was revoked and he has been remanded,” a person with knowledge of the situation told Daily Trust.

After being detained for almost 50 days last year, the former aide had previously been granted bail. At the time, it was reported that he had fulfilled the requirements of his bail before being released.

Saidu, a well-known associate of El-Rufai, has continued to be involved in Kaduna State politics. Additionally, he is reportedly active in the state’s African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Saidu is anticipated to stay in detention until his case’s next hearing in light of the most recent development.

In other news, El-Rufai has been taken before a Federal High Court in Abuja by the Department of State Services (DSS) due to allegations that he accessed a phone conversation that belonged to National Security Advisor Nuhu Ribadu.

According to Naija News, the prosecution informed the court during the case’s Thursday hearing that the previous three-count charge had been reexamined and expanded to five counts. The court dismissed the prior charge and substituted the new, revised one after this update.

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, who oversees the Federal High Court in Abuja, is conducting the hearing.
