The hearing of former governor Nasir El-Rufai’s bail plea has been rescheduled by a Kaduna State High Court for the first week of June 2026.
According to Naija News, the issue is before Judge Darius Khobo, who set the new date during Tuesday’s Kaduna proceedings.
A number of allegations related to suspected financial wrongdoing and abuse of office have been brought against the former governor. The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission filed the allegations against him.
Around nine in the morning, El-Rufai arrived to the court grounds in a convoy with representatives from the Department of State Services and anti-corruption agency. Officers controlled movement in the vicinity of the court, maintaining a strict security presence.
Many of his fans gathered outside the courtroom during the session, and security guards kept an eye on things to make sure nothing went wrong.
Following the hearing, Ukpon Akpan, his attorney, voiced alarm about the bail application’s frequent delays and claimed that political factors were at blame.
When the court reconvenes in June, it is anticipated to continue hearing the case.
El-Rufai, meantime, has warned of what he described as concerted attempts to damage his reputation and keep him in custody for an extended period of time, alleging a new conspiracy to link him to criminal activity.
