Political parties that have gathered access codes for the 2027 election are revealed by INEC.

Nine registered political parties have received access codes to input their candidates’ details for the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

On Tuesday in Abuja, reporters were informed of this by Mallam Mohammed Haruna, the INEC National Commissioner responsible for Voter Education and Publicity.

He claims that as of Monday’s end of business, the statistic represents parties that have obtained their access codes.Nine politicians had obtained the access code for the national elections as of Monday’s end of business, he stated.

Accord (A), Action Alliance (AA), African Democratic Congress (ADC), All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP), National Democratic Congress (NDC), National Democratic Party (NDP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), and Social Democratic Party (SDP) are the nine political parties, according to Haruna.

He clarified that rather than INEC delivering the code to each party secretariat, it was the duty of the political parties taking part in an election to contact the commission to obtain it.

Haruna further stated that a letter of authorization from the party’s leadership is required for anyone wishing to obtain the code on behalf of a political party.

He pointed out that INEC has released criteria for nominating candidates; the national commissioner cautioned political parties to follow the guidelines to the letter and mentioned that party personnel had already received training from the commission.

Additionally, Haruna advised political parties not to put off filling out and submitting their online nomination forms until the last minute.

By extending the deadline from the end of business to midnight on the due day, INEC has shown generosity. INEC cannot be held accountable if any political party chooses to hold off until the deadline, according to Haruna.

According to INEC, political parties have until July 11, 2026, to submit nominations for candidates for the National Assembly and the presidency, Naija News reminds us.

The deadline for submitting candidacy forms for the State Assembly and governorship is July 18–August 8.
