Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi has received condolences from Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta about the passing of his father, Mr. Sunday Ndidi.
The deceased, a former military officer, passed away in a deadly car accident on Tuesday in Umunede, Ika North East Local Government Area of the state, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
He was reportedly taken to an Agbor hospital, where his death was later confirmed.
The governor characterized the late Sunday’s death as abrupt, agonizing, and a huge loss for the Ndidi family as well as the Umunede community and the entire Ika Nation in a statement released on Wednesday in Asaba by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon.
Oborevwori sent his sincere sympathies to Wilfred, the grieving family, and the Umunede community, encouraging them to find comfort in the life and memory of the departed.
“Many people have expressed sympathy for the tragic incident, including Wilfred Ndidi’s club and Besiktas, which confirmed the development in a statement released on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle.”
Oborevwori prayed that God would give the family the strength to deal with the irreversible loss and grant the deceased’s soul eternal rest.
