Deji Adeyanju, a Nigerian activist lawyer, has called on the Nigerian government to detain prominent Islamic cleric Ahmad Gumi right away due to his provocative remarks regarding the nation’s growing security issue.
According to Naija News, the call comes after Gumi said in a recent interview on AIT that if herdsmen quit banditry, they wouldn’t have a way to fund their war machine.
According to Gumi, the herdsmen have suffered greatly since no administration has taken the time to examine their situation or modernize their way of life.
The Islamic cleric emphasizes that robbers occasionally drink from the stream and claims that they do not have opulent lives.
“The terrorists need all the money they’re getting from kidnapping,” he declared. They don’t seem to be leading opulent lives. They need money to finance their war weapons because the government is placing too much pressure on them.
In response to the widely shared video of the priest supporting bandits, Deji wrote on his 𝕏 handle that those who support terrorism should be handled like terrorists and that individuals like Gumi can only exist in a nation without a government.
“People like Gumi can only survive in a country without a government,” he wrote. Supporters of terrorism are also terrorists.
“His words and deeds encourage terrorism in Nigeria. In order to discourage others, I urge the government to take him into custody.
