After being detained by armed bandits, Hon. Usman Garba Zingo, a member from the Kajuru Constituency in the Kaduna State House of Assembly, has safely returned home.
He was freed on Sunday night, according to Naija News.
On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, he was returning to Kaduna State from an official engagement in Zamfara State when he was kidnapped by suspected armed bandits.
According to reports, the attackers stopped the car he was in and pushed him into their own, abandoning the driver, on a highway in the North West area, close to the city of Kaduna.
Security personnel came after the shooters had already left with Zingo, despite reports that his chauffeur had gone to a neighboring police station to sound the alarm.
The Kaduna State House of Assembly later denied the kidnapping occurrence in a statement, criticizing the dissemination of such information as harmful and untrue.
The Assembly maintained that the released photo and facts were inaccurate and asserted that the lawmaker was safe and performing his job.
Bakatsine, a North West security expert, posted a video of well-wishers rejoicing over the lawmaker’s homecoming online.
Neither his family nor security officials have revealed the details of his release, including whether any conditions were fulfilled.
