Kajuru kidnappings: PFN calls for the prompt release of more than 100 abducted believers

Written by Ibrahim Hassan-Wuyo

The kidnapping of more than 100 Christian worshippers in the Kurmin Wali hamlet in Kaduna State’s Kajuru Local Government Area has been denounced by the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), which has described the event as a terrible blow to recent expectations of increased security in the state.

The PFN said that the abduction, which took place during a church service, had left families, churches, and the larger Christian community in a state of sadness, anxiety, and confusion in a press release signed by its National Secretary, Bishop David Bakare.

According to the Fellowship, the attack was especially upsetting because it occurred during a period when Kaduna State residents were starting to feel some relief from ongoing instability, which raised new worries about the safety of people trying to worship in peace.

PFN called on all relevant security authorities to immediately use all available resources and information to ensure the immediate, safe, and unconditional release of the kidnapped worshippers and vehemently denounced what it called a horrific conduct.

The statement claims that the only way to alleviate the suffering brought on by early denials and the misunderstanding that followed the catastrophe is to rescue the victims.

The statement said, “We trust that decisive action will be taken without delay, as the protection of lives and property is a fundamental responsibility of government.”

The PFN also made a direct request to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to step in, pointing out that comparable actions in other states had previously produced favorable results.

The Fellowship sent prayers, support, and encouragement to the families of those in captivity as a sign of unity during this trying time.

PFN also prayed for the abducted worshippers to be protected by God, for their loved ones to be strong and comforted, and for security forces to be wise in their efforts to secure their safe return.

A appeal for enduring peace, justice, and security in Kaduna State and throughout Nigeria was made in the statement’s conclusion.
