JAMB Releases UTME Results That Were Withheld [See Two Methods To Verify Scores]

279 scores from the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) that were previously withheld for investigation have been made public by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the board’s public communication advisor, revealed this in a statement released on Thursday.

According to Benjamin, the examination body’s earlier results were supplemented by the new ones.

He clarified that the ruling was made in response to continuing inquiries into possible instances of exam misconduct during the UTME.

Benjamin claims that after investigations revealed no initial evidence connecting the impacted individuals to exam fraud, JAMB published the 279 results.

However, he stated that once investigations revealed the candidates’ involvement in misconduct, several additional results were canceled.

The board stated that it would keep looking into cases involving alleged violations of examination regulations and would not think twice about imposing penalties if misconduct was proven.

According to Benjamin, results from centers that JAMB’s live monitoring team had flagged for questionable activity would not be released until the investigations were over.

He stated that centers connected to unfavorable reports made during the investigation will be subject to the same procedure.

He stated that the board would not make findings public until it had finished the required examinations and exonerated candidates or centers of any misconduct.

He also threatened to annul the results of any candidate found guilty at the conclusion of the investigations.

Candidates who have not yet received their results were instructed by the board to use the official result-checking procedure to verify their status.

Affected candidates should use the same phone number used for registration to send “UTMERESULT” to 55019 or 66019, according to JAMB.

The examination authority insisted that the continuous review was a component of attempts to safeguard the UTME’s integrity and guarantee that results were only made public for applicants who had been found not to have engaged in misconduct.

Professor Segun Aina has been appointed as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) by President Bola Tinubu.

He will take over for Professor Is-haq Oloyede, whose second tenure as JAMB’s head would end on July 31, 2026.

Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Advisor on Information and Strategy, acknowledged this development in a statement on Thursday.

According to Onanuga, Tinubu anticipates that Aina will apply his extensive background, expertise, and practical understanding to JAMB’s operations in order “to take the critical educational organization beyond the laudable heights achieved by his predecessor.”

According to Naija News, Aina, who turns 40 in July, is a renowned academic and systems specialist with a wealth of knowledge in digital infrastructure, public-sector institutional change, and national examination systems.
