
The infamous Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN) kingpin known as “Calamity,” who is thought to be behind the recent death of a police officer in Delta State, has been apprehended by troops of Sector 2, Operation UDO KA, operating in the ongoing Operation EASTERN SANITY in Ebonyi State.
Early on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, he and four other people were taken into custody during a raid on the terrorists’ hideaway in Nwofe, Izzi Local Government Area, Ebonyi State.
During the incident on February 26, 2026, at Okuku-Igbo in Oshimili North LGA, Delta State, they also injured another officer and took two AK-47 weapons.

The complete statement is as follows: “Troops of Sector 2, Operation UDO KA operating in the ongoing Operation EASTERN SANITY in Ebonyi State have successfully arrested a notorious Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN) kingpin popularly known as “Calamity” and four others during a raid on the terrorists’ hideout in Nwofe, Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, in the early hours of today, April 21, 2026.
The operation was carried out in response to reliable information that connected the suspect and his group to the February 26, 2026, incident at Okuku-Igbo in Oshimili North LGA, Delta State, which resulted in the death of one police officer and the injuries of another. Two AK-47 firearms were taken away by the attackers during that assault.
“Calamity” and his men moved to Ebonyi State in search of a safe haven and set up a new criminal camp to carry out their murderous crimes in an effort to avoid capture following increased security measures in Delta State.
Troops attacked the hideout based on actionable intelligence and captured five suspects, including the commander (Calamity) and four other suspects who are also important IPOB/ESN members.
