The savage and cruel attacks by gunmen in the Angwan Rukuba district of Jos, Plateau State, have been sharply denounced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to Naija News, the President revealed this in a statement issued on Tuesday by Bayo Onanuga, his Special Advisor on Information and Strategy.
The attacks at Kahir village in Kaduna State’s Kagarko Local Government Area were also denounced by Tinubu.
President Tinubu promised Nigerians that the savage deeds would not go unpunished, calling the attack on the community in Jos and the murder and kidnapping of wedding guests in Kaduna an insult to all that Nigeria stands for.
“Anyone who would massacre defenseless civilians in the dark, as was done in Jos and Kahir village, is a callous coward. Their goal in striking soft targets in Jos is not only to inflict damage but also to set off a chain reaction of retaliatory attacks and additional bloodshed, he stated.
He has instructed security services to step up their efforts to apprehend the offenders and those disseminating false information that could exacerbate tensions and put lives in danger.
The President warned several media outlets, implying that the attacks were motivated by religion.
Tinubu emphasized that public collaboration is essential to preserving peace and safeguarding lives and property, and he reiterated that security authorities are aggressively handling the problem.
He emphasized that communities must adhere to evacuation, relocation, and related guidelines and procedures. He celebrated two of the Kaduna victims’ safe return.
“I implore our security authorities to take more proactive measures to stop these attacks by responding to early warning information. The President declared that “all remaining abductees from Kahir village must be rescued immediately.”
“I applaud Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for supporting the rescue and containment operations and Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang for his efforts to keep the situation in Jos under control. I pledge my support to the governments and citizens of both states. I offer prayers for the injured people’s speedy recovery and offer my condolences to the families of the deceased.
