Gbajabiamila and Masari are instructed by Tinubu to oversee the APC primaries.

Prior to the 2027 general election, President Bola Tinubu has instructed his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, and his Special Advisor on Political Matters, Ibrahim Masari, to supervise the All Progressives Congress primary elections for Senate and House of Representatives seats.

According to Naija News, the decision was made following discussions between MPs in both chambers and senior government officials, during which issues of fairness and appropriate internal party procedures during the candidate selection process were brought up.

Gbajabiamila and Masari will collaborate with APC governors, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Senate President, and the National Working Committee of the party. They are responsible for making sure that the political players participating in the primaries are coordinated.

In order to ensure that the primaries are held in a peaceful and organized way, they are also expected to interact with party officials and state governors nationwide. They will provide the President with an update on how the procedure is implemented in various states.

In accordance with the Electoral Act and party regulations, the APC National Working Committee will continue to perform its official functions. This include announcing the results, selecting committees, screening candidates, and sending out notices for the primaries.

The party leadership’s constitutional duties will not be assumed by the supervisory team. Rather, they will concentrate on coordination, keeping an eye on how protocols are being followed, and assisting in the resolution of any disagreements that may come up along the process.
