Following debt repayment, South Africa returns power to the Nigerian High Commission.

South African authorities reported on Monday that the Nigerian High Commission in Pretoria has restored its energy supply following the settlement of outstanding utility charges owed to the City of Tshwane.

Nasiphi Moya, the executive mayor of Tshwane, thanked the High Commission for covering the municipality’s bill and announced the reconnection on Monday.

We express our gratitude to the Federal Republic of Nigeria High Commission for fulfilling its obligation to the city. Moya stated, “The city will reconnect electricity.”

The city has previously cut off the mission’s power supply as a form of discipline due to unpaid electricity payments.

In a previous post on X (previously Twitter), Moya confirmed the disconnection and stated that the diplomatic mission owed the city for services provided.

“We have turned off the electricity at the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s High Commission. She shared a picture of the High Commission building along with the message, “They owe the city for utility services.”

Although the mission has not yet released an official announcement on the development, the restoration came after the Nigerian High Commission paid the remaining amount.
