According to Maj. Gen. Michael Onoja, Director of Defense Media Operations, the Defense HQ is collaborating with pertinent federal government entities to track down and stop terrorists using drones.
He clarified that investigations had advanced to the point where “measures are being taken in collaboration with relevant agencies to identify the sources of the drones and stop their deployment by non-state actors.”
As a result, in the upcoming days or months, tangible actions are anticipated.
“Together with other federal government agencies, we have advanced to a point where we are taking steps to track the origin of these drones.
I think we’ll take concrete action on our plans within the next few days or months.
He said that agencies capable of stopping drone use were already involved and that swift action will be taken.
Onoja stated, “We believe that action will be taken very soon on that. The agencies that have the capacity to prevent the use of drones have been contacted.”
Terrorists operating in the Northeast have recently used sophisticated drones to target civilians and military personnel, raising questions about the militants’ changing strategies.
Terrorist organizations’ use of sophisticated drone technology has prompted the public and security experts to wonder where the weapons are coming from and how they are getting into the nation.
Onoja also said reports circulating on social media that troops at checkpoints in Bauchi State were being ordered to return weekly sums to their superiors, remained simply allegations.
He said that the military is an open organization and promised that if information was given, an investigation would be conducted. “The appropriate action will be taken if the allegations are proven to be true,” he declared.
The return of Nigerian refugees from Cameroon, according to Onoja, is a development that shows how well military operations have restored security to impacted communities in the Northeast.
Together with the federal government, the military has made every effort to guarantee the required level of security in those regions. “A gauge of operational success is the return of refugees,” he stated.
