Death of a Former Kano Finance Commissioner

Professor Kabiru Isa Dandago, a former Kano State Commissioner for Finance, passed away.

According to Naija News, the professor died at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital on Wednesday night.

Lamara Garba, the Director of Information at Bayero University Kano, announced his passing.

After years of devotion to the state and institution, Garba announced the death of the late academic, who specialized in accounting and taxation.

The statement claims that the university community was devastated to learn of his passing.

Garba mentioned that the professor had lately contributed to a support fund established to help the families of the institution’s departed employees.

Dandago continued to participate in scholarly and public discourse prior to his passing.

He was asked to participate in a Ramadan lecture as one of the panel discussants by the International Institute of Islamic Thought only last weekend.

In June 2015, he was appointed Kano State’s Commissioner for Finance under former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

He remained in that role until October 2018.

The late professor had a lengthy academic career at Bayero University Kano in addition to his position in government.

He became the dean of the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences after joining the school in September 1990.

Dandago made contributions to scholarship and research in a number of areas throughout his time in academia.

He authored and edited numerous works on accounting, taxes, finance, and economics.
