Darma is confirmed as a minister by the Senate

After vetting him on Thursday, the Senate approved Muttaqha Rabe Darma as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had earlier sent his nomination to the upper house, and the ratification came following a plenary question-and-answer period.

Godswill Akpabio, the president of the Senate, read the request and forwarded it to the Committee of the Whole, which subsequently suggested his confirmation.

Darma promised lawmakers during his screening that he would collaborate closely with the National Assembly to address Nigeria’s housing issues.

“We will work together with the National Assembly to ensure that the housing challenge is addressed,” he declared.

The minister emphasized the need to provide access to affordable housing, pointing out that over 100 million Nigerians suffer from subpar housing.

He emphasized measures to enhance service delivery in the industry as well as initiatives aimed at low- and middle-class earners.

In response to Adams Oshiomhole’s worries, Darma was upbeat about addressing the housing shortage.

Everything is feasible, in my opinion. “I’ll do everything in my power to bridge the gaps and make things better,” he declared.

Darma emphasized the necessity of improving transparency and governance in the housing industry, pointing out that both public organizations and private developers must take on significant roles.

Using his background as the former Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund, he also promised to reorganize the ministry for efficiency.

The minister-designate stated that he would support initiatives to strengthen national security, pointing out that the development of sustainable housing depends on secure neighborhoods.

Additionally, he promised legislators that enhancing urban development in the Federal Capital Territory and reviving Abuja’s master plan will be top goals.

The confirmation coincides with the Federal Government’s continuous efforts to improve service delivery in the housing sector and solve Nigeria’s housing shortfall.
