Commissioner: The Kano emirship dispute will soon be settled

Residents of Kano State have been reassured by the state government that the state’s ongoing emirate conflict will soon be settled.

Ibrahim Waiya, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, assured reporters in Kano on Thursday that significant efforts had already been made to bring about long-lasting peace and stability.

He emphasized that the emirate issue would not be permitted to continue causing conflict or jeopardizing state government and stated that Governor Yusuf’s administration is still dedicated to communication with all relevant parties.

“The state government is committed to dialogue with stakeholders, so the Kano emirship dispute will soon be resolved amicably,” Waiya stated.

He clarified that respect for traditional institutions, the rule of law, and the interests of the Kano State people as a whole serve as the foundation for the government’s strategy.

Remember that when Yusuf signed the Kano State Emirate Council (Repeal) Law 2024, Muhammadu Sañusi II was restored as the 16th Emir of Kano in May 2024, replacing Aminu Ado Bayero, the 15th Emir.

The Kano State Emirates Council Law of 2019 was revoked, and the emirate councils established by the previous government were dissolved.

The commissioner stated that Kano State would greatly benefit from Yusuf’s recent switch to the All Progressives Congress.

He claims that more interventions, projects, and development initiatives in important areas like infrastructure, health, education, and social welfare would result from greater ties with the federal government.

“Kano has additional options as a result of the defection. Residents should anticipate greater benefits from democracy with increased cooperation with the federal government, according to Waiya.

Waiya stated that the deputy governor’s political future is still up to personal preference because he has not defected with the governor.

He emphasized that the state government is still committed to development, unity, and governance and urged the populace to maintain composure and support as efforts are made to address unresolved problems and advance Kano.

The commissioner reiterated the administration’s dedication to openness, harmony, and inclusive governance while guaranteeing that the Kano people’s interests will always come first.
