Governor Siminalayi Fubara is the acknowledged leader of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, according to Daniel Bwala, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Advisor on Policy Communication. He emphasized that previous governor Nyesom Wike is not a member of the ruling party.
In the midst of a political impasse in the state, where the Rivers Assembly has started the impeachment process against Fubara, Bwala talked on Channels Television’s Hard Copy on Thursday.
According to him, the national chairman’s stance is unambiguous: Fubara, not Wike, is in charge of the APC in Rivers.
“I concur that Governor Fubara is the head of the APC in Rivers State, as noted by the national chairman [Nentawe Yilwatda]. Wike cannot speak for the APC since he is not an APC member.
“He may be the leader of the PDP in Rivers State because he was a former governor and they don’t currently have a governor, but Governor Fubara is the leader of the APC party in Rivers State,” he said.
Bwala claims that Tinubu backs the APC leadership’s position on internal party procedures and the rule of law.
Regarding the impeachment efforts against Fubara, the aide stated that the party anticipates that the governor will be free to do his duties.
