On Thursday, Justice Obiora Egwuatu retracted his involvement in the two charges that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had brought against Mr. Abubakar Malami, the former Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation.
The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, recently reassigned the matter to Justice Egwuatu, who stated that he chose to resign from the two cases for both personal reasons and the greater good of justice.
This came soon after the civil litigation for the forfeiture of 57 properties purportedly belonging to Malami was brought to light.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the cases were previously heard by Justice Emeka Nwite, who served as a vacation judge over the Christmas holiday.
