Following President Bola Tinubu’s intervention, the impeachment procedures against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu have been suspended by the Rivers State House of Assembly.
At the Assembly’s reconvened plenary in the state capital of Port Harcourt on Thursday, the decision to halt the process was approved.
At its first meeting in 2026, the House had started the impeachment process against the governor and his deputy due to a number of serious charges, including alleged spending without legislative approval and the demolition of the State Assembly facility.
