Ado-Ekiti — On Wednesday, 16 suspected bandits from Kwara State who were allegedly preparing to migrate into Ekiti were taken into custody by the Ekiti State Amotekun Corps, Oye Local Government Command.

Mr. Adeleye, the Command’s Director of Information, acknowledged the development in a statement given to reporters.

The statement claims that the suspects caused panic in the community when they were seen in large numbers with their cattle near the Gede Farm hamlet in Isan-Ekiti. The bandits in Oye Local Government Area were effectively captured by Amotekun reinforcements from neighboring outposts as a result.

The accused acknowledged during questioning that they had fled Kwara State because of ongoing anti-banditry operations. Additionally, they admitted to being involved in livestock rustling that targeted Kwara locals.

Cash, seven cell phones, a variety of charms, three VGN ID cards, and multiple herds of cattle were among the items found on the suspects.

The arrested people have been turned over to the Ekiti State Police Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Ado-Ekiti for additional investigation.
