Following the National Industrial Court of Nigeria’s decision on Tuesday to suspend the workers’ strike, activities at the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and its affiliated MDAs started to pick up on Wednesday.

Recall that in order to allow for more discussion, the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, presided over by Justice E. D. Subilim, ruled that the strike that employees under the Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) had started be immediately paused.

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), asked employees to return to work straight away after the decision, emphasizing that although a democracy recognizes the right to protest, court rulings must be obeyed.

In order to ensure compliance with the court ruling, Mrs. Nancy Sabanti, the Acting Head of the Civil Service of the Federal Capital Territory, issued a circular instructing all Secretariats, Departments, and Agencies (SDAs) to open and closely maintain personnel attendance registers.

The circular, dated January 27, 2026, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to employee welfare while directing Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Departments, Parastatals, and Agencies to ensure the workers’ quick return to work.

On Wednesday, a visit to the FCTA offices and its associate MDAs revealed that the employees were reasonably compliant, with their officers performing their regular official tasks while on the premises.
