Adeniyi Adeyemi, who accused President Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff, of seeking bribes, has reportedly been sent by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to the National Cybercrime Centre (NCCC) in Abuja.
After being arrested in Osun State, Adeyemi reportedly spent two nights at the police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) detention facility before being transferred to the NPF-NCCC facility in the Federal Capital Territory.
SaharaReporters was informed about the move by police sources familiar with the situation, but they did not disclose the decision’s rationale.
According to Naija News, the transfer occurred a few days after Gbajabiamila filed a ₦15 billion defamation lawsuit against Adeyemi in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja High Court.
Adeyemi filed the lawsuit after claiming that the presidential adviser had wanted a 48% return from a proposed ₦27.3 billion take-off grant that had been approved for an alleged federal agency.
Gbajabiamila is requesting ₦5 billion in aggravated damages in addition to ₦10 billion in general damages.
In addition, he is requesting an order requiring Adeyemi to print an apology and complete retraction in five national publications, as well as ₦200 million to cover the expense of prosecution.
Additionally, the Chief of Staff requested that the court order Adeyemi to post an apology on social media for a period of thirty days.
Chief of Staff Disavows Claims
Gbajabiamila characterized the accusations as nasty, untrue, and detrimental to his reputation through his legal team.
He insisted that he had never spoken to Adeyemi, met him, or given anyone permission to make demands or collect money on his behalf.
According to court records, Adeyemi claimed during a news conference that he paid ₦400 million through a middleman who was allegedly representing the Chief of Staff.
Additionally, he claimed that in order to get presidential clearances, he was requested to pay an extra ₦200 million.
Gbajabiamila refuted the allegations, stating that he had no official, professional, or personal contact with Adeyemi and had never asked for money from him.
According to court documents, Adeyemi then admitted that he had never met Gbajabiamila in person in an interview with content creator Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan.
It was also reported that Adeyemi acknowledged that he did not independently confirm the identify of the person he thought to be the Chief of Staff.
According to reports, he claimed that the late Babatunde Tanimola handled all correspondence pertaining to the purported transaction.
In his witness deposition, Gbajabiamila said that Adeyemi reiterated the accusations on July 13, 2026, when he appeared on Channels Television’s Politics Today, despite their admissions.
In the lawsuit, the Chief of Staff further revealed that Adeyemi was already on trial at the Federal High Court in Abuja for alleged forgery, impersonation, and running a fictitious government agency.

According to reports, Adeyemi had identified himself as the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council’s Director-General.
On the other hand, the President claimed that the agency was nonexistent.
The alleged institution apparently received a ₦1.3 billion financial allocation and office space at the Federal Secretariat despite doubts about its legal validity.
Later, Adeyemi said that Gbajabiamila was requesting 48% of the ₦27.3 billion take-off grant intended for the organization.
