A former lawmaker leaves the PDP to join the ADC

Eta Mbora, a former member of the House of Representatives, has joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), increasing the opposition party’s numbers ahead of the upcoming election cycle.

Mbora, who represented Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency in the 9th National Assembly, reportedly declared his defection on Thursday in Calabar, Cross River State, according to Naija News.

The PDP’s ongoing internal crises, which he claimed has continued to erode the party’s structure, was the reason given by the former senator for his decision.

Although he acknowledged that leaving the party was a tough decision, he maintained that it was now unavoidable.

I’m still appreciative of the PDP for giving me the chance to work at the local, state, and federal levels,” he remarked.

Mbora also thanked his political allies and supporters for their steadfast support over the years.

He asked them to support him in the ADC by taking part in the party’s current ward-wide registration and revalidation process.

In anticipation of the upcoming elections, Cross River State is seeing an increasing number of political realignments, including his defection.

This comes after former senator Gershom Bassey, who just left the PDP to join the ADC, and former governor Liyel Imoke took comparable actions.

To properly welcome Mbora and other new party members, the ADC is reportedly organizing a welcoming gathering.
