Tems and Burna Boy broke the previous African artists’ Billboard Hot 100 record.

As the African artists with the most entries on the Billboard US Hot 100 list, Tems and Burna Boy have achieved a new milestone in the world of music.

After both artists made their chart debuts with new songs from J. Cole’s most recent album, The Fall-Off, the record was certain.

“Only You,” featuring Burna Boy, debuted at No. 78 on the list, while “Bounce Road Blues,” with Tems and Future, debuted at No. 34. With these latest appearances, each artist now has eight career entries on the Billboard Hot 100, more than any South African rock group. Seether.

According to the most recent update, Tems has three entries on the Billboard Hot 100 list this year alone, making him the African musician with the most entries in 2026. She had previously tied Burna Boy and Seether for the most entries, making her the first African female artist to do so.

For his part, Burna Boy keeps adding to his own legacy on the American charts. The Grammy-winning singer is now the first African artist to appear on the Billboard Hot 100 for six years in a row, from 2021 to 2026.

“Loved By You” (2021), “Last Last” (2022), “Sittin’ On Top Of The World” and “Talibans II” (2023), “Just Like Me” and “We Pray” (2024), “WGFT” (2025), and now “Only You” (2026) are some of his prior charting hits.

The accomplishment highlights Afrobeats’ ongoing globalization as African musicians gain more mainstream recognition on one of the most competitive music charts in the world.
