In Arochukwu, Abia State, family, friends, and coworkers gathered on Thursday to accept the body of the late Nollywood star Alexx Ekubo before his funeral.
According to Naija News, the actor’s body was transported to his family property after arriving at his hometown in a convoy and briefly stopping at the Eze Arochukwu palace.
According to funeral plans previously made public by his family, Ekubo, who passed away on May 11 at the age of 40, was to be buried in Arochukwu on June 18.
To honor the late actor, locals marched around the village alongside Nollywood celebrities and other supporters.
As they paid their final respects, several of the mourners donned T-shirts with Ekubo’s image on them, and others clutched his pictures.
Notable individuals in attendance included Yomi Casual, Ini Edo, Omoni Oboli, and his close buddy IK Ogbonna.
The late actor’s wife, parents, and siblings survive him. It is said that he passed away following a private fight with kidney cancer.
A reception at Mary Slessor School in Amanagwu Village, Arochukwu, Abia State, will take place right after the funeral service.
