Shank Comics, a Nigerian comedian and streamer, has caused a sensation on social media by asserting that comedians in the nation make more money than musicians.
According to Naija News, the content producer made the claim during a recent livestream in which he refuted the popular notion that comedians are less wealthy than musicians.
Shank claims that music stars’ propensity to publicly flaunt their opulent lifestyles is a major factor in the belief that they are wealthier.
He maintained that many comedians prioritize long-term investments over ostentatious consumption.
He stated, “A lot of people assume that musicians are richer than comedians because they flaunt their wealth unlike most comedians.”
Shank asserted, using examples, that well-known Nigerian comedians like Bovi and Basketmouth are substantially wealthier than top Afrobeats performers.
Asake, Wizkid, and Burna Boy were among the celebrities he particularly cited.
“I believe humor is more profitable than music. He claimed that although Bovi and Basketmouth are far wealthier than Asake, Wizkid, Burna Boy, and other musicians, they would rather invest than purchase automobiles.
Shank emphasized that comedians tend to be more frugal with their money, preferring investments over luxuries.
He continued, “Comedians invest more than they spend and don’t spend lavishly on luxuries because they are very conscious of the future.”
“Many comedians can afford the opulent cars that Nigerian musicians purchase.”
