Fans of Nigerian artist Peter Okoye, better known by his stage name Mr. P, have been urged to refrain from drawing comparisons between him and Paul Okoye, widely known as Rudeboy, his twin brother and former P-Square collaborator.
The singer stated that he wants to concentrate entirely on his solo music career without being sidetracked by frequent comparisons in an interview with Cool FM.
He believes that each artist has a different journey, and he would prefer to be recognized for his own efforts and accomplishments.
According to Naija News, Mr. P expressed his desire to be acknowledged for his uniqueness and to continue developing his career on his own terms.
He insisted that since he is concentrated on doing his own thing and enjoying the fruits of his labor, there is no need for others to put him alongside his brother or any other performer.
“Stop comparing me with my brother or anyone else,” he declared. Let’s stop making analogies. I’d like to do myself. Nobody is like me. I want to slice my money and do what I do.
The musician also discussed how the reuniting of P-Square affected his own career.
He claimed that prior to his reunion with Rudeboy, his solo career was gaining significant traction.
He claimed that thousands of new people were joining his Instagram profile every day, and that his social media following was expanding quickly at the time.
Okoye claimed that following the reunion, the rate of growth decreased, which had an impact on the advancements he had made as a solo performer.
