Patrick Doyle, a seasoned Nollywood actor, has criticized colleagues who openly back politicians for their own benefit, labeling such behavior as avaricious.
He disclosed this in an interview with Oyinmomo TV, according to Naija News.
He argued that rather than pursuing personal gain via political connections, financially stable entertainers should concentrate on advocating for the people.
Some actors and filmmakers even get into arguments over the money they get after endorsing politicians, the 64-year-old actor clarified.
Doyle pointed out that since many people in the entertainment business are already wealthy from their jobs, it is pointless to pursue further financial gains from political campaigns.
Additionally, the veteran cautioned that acting is an art form that should not be influenced by the government.
He noted that there are now rifts in the entertainment sector as a result of more performers publicly supporting politicians.
He claimed that certain politicians were attacked both physically and electronically during the most recent presidential election due to their political stances.
“A lot of the entertainers are greedy,” he stated. Because performers are receiving a good living from their earnings if you take a close look at the entertainment sector.
And you shouldn’t be searching for personal gain once more if you are at ease and wish to give. They ought to speak for the whole public.
The majority of the entertainers who campaigned in front of me gave the impression that they were genuinely supporting that individual, and after they finished, you could still see them squabbling among themselves over the money.
“Greed is the only issue.”
