Annie Macaulay, a Nollywood actress, posted a statement on social media stating how she would like to be addressed.
The actress stated, “I’m not a single mom,” in her Instagram Story on Monday. I am a single mother of two children.
Online reactions to the succinct but firm message were swift, with many seeing it as her attempt to refute a popular stereotype of mothers who raise children alone.
Her statement was made more than a year after one of Nigeria’s most well-known celebrity marriages ended when musician Innocent “2Baba” Idibia announced in January 2025 that they had split up and filed for divorce.
Isabel was born in 2008, and Olivia was born in 2014. The couple married in two ceremonies in 2013.
Since then, 2Baba has remarried Edo State House of Assembly member Natasha Osawaru. In November 2025, the couple welcomed their first child, a male.
