Phrank Shaibu, the spokesperson for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has rejected a claim made by Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is ahead of the opposition in the 2027 election. Keyamo had earlier praised Tinubu’s political journey, claiming that he rose from the depths of opposition politics to become Nigeria’s president. Shaibu responded via a post on 𝕏, arguing that Tinubu’s political “invincibility” is a weak narrative, emphasizing that Nigerians are more worried about deteriorating economic conditions and insecurity.
He claims that inhabitants are facing ongoing safety issues, a high cost of living, and an increase in hunger.
He went on to say that being “ahead” politically should result in higher living standards rather than merely tactical bluster.
Rather, he claimed that the current state of affairs indicates that the government is finding it difficult to deal with urgent national challenges.
Shaibu stepped up his criticism in a follow-up article, saying that political strategy is useless if it doesn’t enhance livelihoods, provide security, or give regular Nigerians their dignity back. He concluded that no level of messaging can obscure the hardship many citizens continue to face.
“Today’s Nigerians are not impressed by repurposed opposition strategies disguised as genius; instead, they deal with empty pockets, dangerous communities, and a government that doesn’t seem to care about their suffering.”
“A reality this loud cannot be covered up by propaganda,” he declared.
