Victor Moses, a former Nigerian winger, was left stranded in Dubai after his arrival at FC Kaisar in Kazakhstan was delayed due to air traffic disruptions caused by tensions related to the Iran conflict.
The Kazakhstan Premier League team reported that due to travel issues, Moses and fellow Nigerian forward Imoh Ezekiel were unable to play in their first league game of the season on March 8 against FK Zhenys.
When a rocket allegedly landed close to an airport in the area, Moses was getting ready to return to Kazakhstan to join his new team. This resulted in the closing of adjacent airspace and the suspension of other flights, including those headed for Kazakhstan.
The former Chelsea F.C. winger is unable to leave Dubai due to the disturbance, which keeps him from getting to know his new teammates before the regular season begins.
While they wait for both Nigerian players to arrive, head coach Andrey Ferapontov stated that the team is keeping a careful eye on the issue.
Two more overseas players are anticipated. Ferapontov stated, “You’re probably familiar with the situation with Moses and Ezekiel,” according to Vesti.
They were unable to attend the championship for a number of reasons. Because of the political climate, Moses is unable to leave Dubai.
“We’re holding out for him. We’ll have a full squad when they return, and we’ll know how fit they are.
According to Naija News, Moses left Luton Town F.C. and signed a one-year contract with FC Kaisar in January, continuing a career that has seen him play in multiple European leagues.
Before stints with Wigan Athletic F.C. and Chelsea, where he won the Premier League title in the 2016–17 season, the 35-year-old started his professional career at Crystal Palace F.C.
In addition, he played on loan for West Ham United F.C., Stoke City F.C., and Liverpool F.C. He also played overseas for Spartak Moscow, Inter Milan, and Fenerbahçe S.K.
Between 2012 and 2018, Moses made 38 appearances for the Nigerian national football team, scoring 12 goals and contributing significantly to the nation’s victory in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
After departing Albanian team KF Pogradeci, Ezekiel, who was a member of Nigeria’s bronze-winning squad at the 2016 Summer Olympics, is also anticipated to join FC Kaisar.
