Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle’s future has been the subject of conjecture, but the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has denied it, stating that the Franco-Malian strategist is still dedicated to the national team and has no plans to resign.
NFF President Ibrahim Gusau emphasized that the coach is still under contract and essential to Nigeria’s football objectives despite allegations that other national teams are interested in Chelle.
According to reports, nations like Tunisia and Angola have expressed interest in Chelle, who led the Super Eagles to third place at the most recent Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
In an interview released by the Super Eagles’ media staff, Mr. Gusau stated, “We still have a one-year contract with Eric, so whatever interest anybody may show on him, he has to wait until his contract expires.”
The federation is eager to prevent diversions and safeguard the advancements gained under Chelle’s direction, the NFF president continued.
We understand that he enjoys dealing with Nigeria, therefore we really don’t want to cause him any distractions.
Gusau rejected the idea that Chelle’s destiny ought to be determined by financial rewards or temporary achievement elsewhere.
“Because it has nothing to do with whether a team is interested in you or whether he has achieved success with the Super Eagles. Therefore, even though the other team will provide him
If he gets more money, he will see results. That isn’t the problem.
He clarified that having the proper environment is essential for any coach to be successful.
The question is whether or not they have the resources he needs to accomplish his goals. Every coach’s goal is to see his team succeed, especially in more competitive competitions.
Gusau further emphasized that such decisions should be made based on occupational fulfillment rather than financial gain.
When you say, “I want the coach,” we will find the coach and pay him a specific sum of money. The question is not whether the money will be enough, but whether he will succeed in his career. Or is he only there to get the money?
Gusau claims that Chelle is still steadfast in her dedication to the Super Eagles project.
“So, the important thing is that I know Coach Eric has faith in Super Eagles and that he can accomplish anything in his career, including coaching and preparation, particularly with the African national team.
Additionally, he disclosed that he has had multiple conversations with the federation on Chelle’s future.
He therefore has a great deal of faith in the Super Eagles and is certain that he can fulfill all of his goals with them. That is the main idea that I hold, and I am aware that Tim and I have spoken about it on multiple occasions. And to everyone.
