Despite Rivers United’s slip, Finidi George is certain of winning the NPFL title.

Finidi George, the manager of Rivers United, is adamant that his team would continue to compete for the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) crown after Sunday’s derby loss.

Temple Emekayi, the captain, diverted the ball into his own net in the 12th minute, causing Rivers to lose 1-0 to Bayelsa United at the Samson Siasia Stadium.

In a close game, it was a devastating moment. The Port Harcourt team still has three games left to play, but the loss lowered them to second place.

Taking advantage, Rangers International F.C. defeated Nasarawa United F.C. 2-0 at home to take the lead in the NPFL standings.

After the game, Finidi George declared, “I’ll accept it if losing to Bayelsa United will give us the league title.”

We are aware that winning the league is the goal of this season’s campaign. The fact that we lost today is quite regrettable.

Bendel Insurance F.C. defeated Ikorodu City F.C. 4-0 at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, putting up one of the weekend’s best performances.

Wisdom Udom finished the rout, but Alex Oweilayefa stole the show with a hat-trick for the hosts.

Bright Ozebagbe, the coach of Ikorodu City, expressed his annoyance after his team’s three-match winning streak came to an end.

Ozebagbe told Platinum News, “We were careless and had opportunities but didn’t take advantage of them.”

“We’ll make an effort to improve the game in the areas where we felt we were lacking.

“We just want to try our hardest to stay in the race; we are not under pressure to win the league.”

Ikorodu City maintains their position in the top group as the NPFL title competition intensifies despite the crushing defeat, with 45 points from 28 games.
