
According to Dele Momodu, a prominent member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), there is no assurance that Atiku Abubakar, a presidential candidate, would have chosen Peter Obi in the party primary.
He emphasized how the contest is unpredictable and how the opposition’s dynamics are changing.
Prior to the 2027 elections, Momodu was questioned on Channels TV Morning Brief over Obi’s recent defection from the ADC to the New Democratic Congress (NDC).
He clarified that although ongoing legal disputes inside the ADC were the primary cause of Obi’s departure, it also revealed a more serious problem within the opposition alliance.
Momodu stated, “There is no assurance that Atiku will defeat Obi at the primaries because they are going to throw it open.” “Obi’s decision to go is his own. I hope he succeeds in testing his popularity in other places.
Momodu said, “You cannot force Atiku out for a man just because he says the election is over by noon if he and Kwankwaso come together.” Allowing others to test their appeal elsewhere is essential. However, it’s as critical to understand that the election is a numerical contest.
Momodu remained circumspect when questioned about Obi’s possible influence on the 2027 election, recognizing the changing political landscape but refraining from making firm predictions regarding voter turnout. He questioned whether Atiku could maintain the same level of popularity from the prior election cycle in light of the shifting
