
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared that Tuesday, March 3, will be the date of its 2026 State Congress.
The Lagos State Congress Committee Chairman said in a notification on Monday, March 2, that the congress will begin at 10 a.m. at Mobolaji Johnson Stadium, formerly known as Onikan Stadium.
According to the party, the exercise complies with its constitutional provisions.
The statement said, “The All Progressives Congress, Lagos State Chapter hereby announces the scheduled 2026 State Congress in accordance with the provisions of Article 12.8 of the party’s Constitution.”
The congress is anticipated to attract delegates and important stakeholders from all 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas in the state, according to Naija News.
The party listed the types of members who could attend the congress.
They consist of the State Governor and Deputy Governor, the State Chairman and members of the State Executive Committee, members of the State Advisory Council, and all current and former APC members of the state’s National Assembly.
Members of the Lagos State National Executive Committee, current and former State House of Assembly members who are party members, elected Local Government Chairmen and their deputies, and all elected council members from the state’s 245 wards who are party members are also eligible.
The announcement also named state members of the Zonal Executive Committee, five delegates per ward chosen at the Ward Congress, and the party’s chairman and secretary in each Local Government Area.
The party emphasized that stringent accreditation protocols would be implemented at the location.
The announcement further stated that “all delegates must present their official accreditation tags and valid party membership cards for entry.”
In advance of internal reorganization and preparations for upcoming elections in the state, party supporters are anticipated to congregate on Lagos Island for what is regarded as a critical event.
