Senator Musa of Yobe East Withdraws from the 2027 Race

Mustapha Musa, also known as Kulas, the senator from Yobe East, has announced his support for Governor Mai Mala Buni as his preferred successor in the National Assembly and withdrawn from the 2027 contest.

In a statement prior of the 2027 general elections, Musa announced his withdrawal, claiming he had agreed with the political arrangement and the party leaders’ choice.

The senator declared that he will no longer run for the ticket or run for any other elected office.

“I hereby formally withdraw from the contest for the ticket,” he declared.

Additionally, Musa instructed his followers to cease disseminating campaign materials endorsing him for any electoral position.

According to Naija News, Musa congratulated Baba Mallam Wali, a former secretary to the Yobe State Government who has become the party leadership’s favored candidate for governor.

He wished Wali and every candidate from the All Progressives Congress (APC) the best of luck in the next elections.

The senator, who had previously considered running for governor, thanked Buni and Senator Ibrahim Geidam, the Minister of Police Affairs, for their “mentorship and sustained support.”

From his early positions as Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Scholarship Board to commissioner and, eventually, senator, he claimed that their backing influenced his political career.
