Natasha Osawaru, 2Baba’s wife, switches from the PDP to the NDC

Before the 2027 elections, Natasha Osawaru, the wife of musician Innocent Idibia and a member of the Edo State House of Assembly, switched from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Along with other lawmakers and former Gombe State Deputy Governor John Yoriyo, the Edo congressman formally joined the party on Thursday at the NDC national headquarters in Abuja, according to Naija News. Party leaders, including former Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson, welcomed them.

Osawaru had previously stated that she intended to run for a second term in the Edo State House of Assembly in order to continue serving the Egor Constituency before making her defection public.

The 31-year-old lawmaker stated that the party’s goals were to serve the people and effect change. She also toyed with the letters of the party’s name by referring to NDC as “Natasha Don Come” in one of her campaign materials that went viral online.

Osawaru stated that she thought her decision to join the party, along with the backing of her constituents, will contribute to Edo State’s progress.

If re-elected in 2027, she also pledged to prioritize welfare, security, youth empowerment, and governance.

Additionally, the senator openly endorsed former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi’s bid for president. She urged Nigerians to back the former Labour Party presidential candidate by posting pictures of herself with him.
