The Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) decision to de-recognize African Democratic Congress (ADC) leaders, such as Senator David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola, has been attributed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to internal party actions.
Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, made this statement on Thursday in an interview with News Central, refuting accusations that the ruling party was to blame for the occurrence.
According to Morka, the APC had no involvement in the internal conflicts of the opposition party and was concentrated on its own political preparations.
“We are just worried about our level of preparedness and the work we are making, as I have always said. We are self-conscious. He claimed that the opposition is fixated on what the APC does.
He claimed that the ADC’s predicament was self-inflicted.
“The INEC decision to derecognize the David Mark administration, which is the most recent development that everyone is discussing, was completely self-inflicted. That wasn’t done by APC. The executive’s takeover of the ADC was not planned by the APC, Morka continued.
According to the APC spokesperson, the scenario resulted from what he called a disrespect for the ADC’s internal policies and constitutional restrictions.
He stated, “They did that, totally disregarding the rule of law and the party’s constitution.”
He claims that the party’s constitution specifies exactly how leadership succession is to be handled.
“The party had a succession-related constitution. This is the result of entering the party via parachute and assuming leadership without consulting the party’s constitutional succession plan, he said.
Morka went on to say that the people who are currently criticizing the APC are to blame for the current state of affairs.
“The same folks who are currently moaning and blaming the APC are the ones who made this. “We don’t care about any of that,” he remarked.
The remarks came after INEC had already decided to remove David Mark’s and Rauf Aregbesola’s identities as national chairman and national secretary of the ADC, respectively, off its official portal.
Political stakeholders and opposition party supporters have responded to the development.
