Homepolitics"Democracy Will Be Worse In 2027," said Sam Amadi.

“Democracy Will Be Worse In 2027,” said Sam Amadi.

According to Sam Amadi, the director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, Nigeria’s democracy will be worse in 2027 than it is now.

Amadi made this claim on Tuesday during an interview on Arise Television’s “Prime Time” show, according to Naija News.

Amadi stated that political parties lack internal democracy when discussing the essence of Nigerian democracy.

He claims that the Electoral Act attempted to exclude judicial review and that the judiciary is a hopeless case.

“We are going to have worse democracy than it is now in 2027,” he declared. The main argument is that there is no internal democracy in the Nigerian party system, and this is due to both structural and normative factors.

“Looking back, the judiciary appears to be in a hopeless situation. Judicial review is attempted to be excluded by the Electoral Acts. It’s neither here nor there, even while judicial review is in effect.

Amadi cautioned Nigerians not to trust the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) use of technology.

Amadi made this statement on Sunday at the nation’s capital, Abuja, at the Citizens Town Hall Meeting on the Electoral Act 2026.

He suggested that INEC’s technology be examined by a nonpartisan audit body.

“We finished the 2023 election with so many allegations, so many issues,” he said.

“No public hearing was held by the National Assembly, and neither Mahmood nor any of the policemen were sworn to tell us what transpired. That is chaotic.

“INEC’s technology deployment should not be trusted.”
