A former presidential candidate for the Labour Party leaves the party

According to Naija News, Peter Ameh, a former Labour Party presidential contender in 2019, has resigned from the party.

In Ogugu Ward 1, Olamaboro Local Government Area, Kogi State, he tendered his resignation to the party chairman.

He claimed that his choice was made after careful consideration and was founded on what he considered was best for the nation and democracy’s future.

Ameh, who formerly held the position of National Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, clarified that his ties to the Labour Party stemmed from their common political views and their personal friendship with the late Abdulkadir Abdulsalam, the party’s former National Chairman.

He stated he is still grateful for that relationship and characterized Abdulsalam as a significant individual who impacted his time in the party.

He also reflected on his lengthy career in politics, pointing out that he had previously served as the head of IPAC and the Progressive Peoples Alliance.

He stated that he still supports the development and survival of Nigeria’s multi-party system.

He claims that his departure is motivated by his belief that political organizations should function with trust, respect for agreements, and honesty in both words and deeds rather than by resentment or self-interest.

Ameh expressed gratitude to the Labour Party’s leadership and members for their support throughout his tenure and wished them well as they carried on with their political endeavors and efforts to advance the country.
