
A terrible traffic accident on Yobe State’s Damaturu–Maiduguri route claimed the lives of no fewer than five members of the same family.
According to Naija News, Potiskum Local Government Area citizens were part in the Wednesday event, which has left the town in grief.
Dahiru Musa Talba, a victim’s relative, confirmed the news in a Facebook post, revealing that three family members suffered varied degrees of injury and five family members perished in the collision.
He claims that the wounded victims were sent to the General Hospital in Damaturu, where they are presently being treated.
Talba expressed profound sorrow and called the event “devastating.”
“Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.” “My mother passed away,” he wrote.
He also mentioned that there was a lot of traffic on the main route where the tragedy happened.
Suraj Muh’d Jaji Guyik, a family friend who also responded to the tragedy, stated, “The incident happened on their way coming from Maiduguri to Potiskum after a condolence visit for their loved ones.” They are being transported to the YSSH A/E treatment facility. Thanks to the support of YSSH management and the general public, we had all the urgently needed medical supplies. We value everyone’s efforts, particularly CMD Dr. Usman Abba Geidam’s quick response even though he was traveling for Umrah.

Dungus Abdulkarim, the Yobe State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the collision and stated that five people were confirmed killed while others were injured.
The same family members were involved in the accident. While others suffered varied degrees of injuries, five people were confirmed dead, he said.
He said that the reason of the accident was still being investigated.
Hajjagana Dahiru Zayi, Ibrahim Dahiru Zayi, Muhammad Dahiru Zayi, Hauwa Dahiru Zayi, and another family member were identified as the deceased.
Locals termed the incident “heartbreaking” and urged drivers to drive carefully on the highway to avoid more fatalities.
Mai Mala Buni, the governor of Yobe State, has expressed sympathy to Alhaji Mohammad Dahiru Zayi, the victims’ father, over the terrible loss.
The governor called the tragedy “terrifying, tragic, and devastating” in a statement written by Mamman Muhammad, his Director-General, Press and Media Affairs.
“The family and the entire state are going through a very difficult, sad, and unfortunate time.”
Buni stated, “We ask Allah (SWT) to pardon their transgressions and grant their souls eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus.”
He continued by saying that it was unthinkable to lose five family members in one accident and that, as Christians, “we accept that this is their appointed time.”
Additionally, the governor prayed for the grieving family’s ability to cope with the irreversible loss.
