Due to growing concerns about student behavior, the Zamfara State Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology has outlawed signing-out activities in all state schools.
According to Naija News, Abdulmalik Abubakar Gajam, the Commissioner for Education, announced this decision in a circular on Monday.
Governor Dauda Lawal, security services, school administrations, and other relevant parties were also notified.
According to the ministry, final-year student-organized farewell festivities have recently devolved into occasions where a large number of students participate in misbehavior and behaviors that go against the ideals that are anticipated in schools.
It stated that this kind of behavior is incompatible with the norms that the state’s educational system is supposed to maintain.
Consequently, all schools have been directed to immediately cease signing out activities. In order to make sure that everyone is informed of and complies with the new rule, authorities have instructed schools to meet with pertinent stakeholders.
It has been recommended that parents and guardians caution their kids not to engage in such activities. Anyone who disobeys the directive would be punished, the ministry made clear.
Instructors who condone or encourage such behavior may face disciplinary action, which could include official warnings, suspension, or demotion. In certain situations, students may need to retake their final year, and their results may be withheld or revoked.
School security officers and security organizations have also been ordered to keep a careful eye on schools to make sure the direction is being obeyed. Leaders in the community and religion were urged to mentor youth and encourage the relocation.
The ministry further stated that the decision is a component of the state government’s efforts to uphold order, enhance academic concentration, and encourage appropriate behavior among pupils in Zamfara schools.
