Police Verify Man’s Stabbing Death in Cross River

The Cross River State police have revealed that a 36-year-old man identified as Charles Ekuma Eze, in Ikom in the central part of the state, was stabbed with a dagger following an argument with a 42-year-old Micheal Ndifon.

The incident happened over the weekend at the Etayip community in Ikom Town, Ikom LGA, according to information obtained by Naija News; however, the circumstances surrounding it were still unknown.

But according to a statement released on Sunday by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata, the victim was taken to Holy Family Hospital in Ikom for medical attention before being sent to Ebonyi State Teaching Hospital in Abakaliki, where a doctor declared him dead while he was being treated.

According to Akata, the issue was brought to the attention of their Ikom Police Division over the weekend by Ndifon Nkang, the Task Force Chairman, and Felix Agbor, the Youth Leader of the Asse-Asin Community in Ikom LGA.

The police spokesperson also confirmed that the suspect has been taken into custody and that the body has been placed in the hospital mortuary for an autopsy.

“The Task Force Chairman and Youth Leader of Asse-Asin Community reported that on the same day at approximately 1746 hours, the suspect, Michael Ndifon, allegedly stabbed one Charles Ekuma Eze with a dagger on his right rib during an argument,” he stated.

The probable murder weapon has also been found and is being used as an exhibit. The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) will be tasked with conducting a covert investigation into the matter, which is already underway.
