Chiemeka Chibuzor, a 21-year-old autistic woman, is the adoptive daughter of Omega Power Ministries founder Chibuzor Chinyere, who has offered financial incentives to any guy who agrees to marry her.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, the clergyman announced the request, stating that it was in the young woman’s best interests.
The male must be youthful and “physically and mentally fit in all forms,” according to Chinyere’s list of requirements for potential suitors.
He listed a number of advantages in return, such as lifetime financial assistance, free housing for life, a jointly constructed home in both spouses’ names, and frequent, unexpected visits from OPM employees to keep an eye on the woman’s well-being.
“I am marrying off another of my adopted daughters. Chiemeka Chibuzor is her name. She has autism and is twenty-one years old. She has good hearing and speaking skills.
The statement went on, “This arrangement is to ensure that she is properly cared for, protected, and lives a happy life.”
The news comes after the bishop arranged a similar, well reported marriage between an older woman and a non-verbal autistic guy known as Aboy on March 29.
Reactions to that wedding were divided; some questioned permission, dignity, and the morality of arranging marriages for those with cognitive impairments.
In response to the criticism, Chinyere gave Aboy—now renamed Elijah—a Lexus automobile and a piece of property and made him an ambassador for the church’s free school for kids with autism and Down syndrome.
