Passengers are reassured by FAAN as the temporary departure terminal is almost finished.

Kuku is leading FAAN to two ISO certifications.

The 8,000-square-meter temporary departure terminal is almost finished and will soon be operating, according to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, or FAAN.

During a thorough inspection tour of the facility, which is anticipated to serve passengers once Terminal 1 closes, FAAN’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, made this statement.

Despite the ongoing extensive Rehabilitation and Expansion Project, Kuku assured all travelers and airport patrons that the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos, would remain accessible and comfortable.

She said that other temporary infrastructure, such as a designated parking lot and a makeshift arrival and pickup facility, was also in place.

“We are diligently working towards the new terminal we promised Nigerians,” she stated. The project will be divided into two main stages: the major extension of Terminal 2, which will include an extended finger and apron, and the full remodeling and restoration of Terminal One, including all mechanical, engineering, plumbing, and civil works.

The 8,000-square-meter temporary departure terminal is almost finished and will soon be operating. Approximately five to six airlines will initially use this facility, which is more than 90% finished, for departures only. It offers complete check-in, security screening, and boarding services via three gates and is built to accommodate up to 1,500 passengers during peak hours.

In the meantime, FAAN has obtained certifications for both the Environmental Management System (ISO 14001:2015) and the Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2015).

While ISO 14001:2015 verifies that an organization manages its operations in an environmentally responsible manner by reducing waste and pollution, adhering to environmental laws, and promoting sustainable operations, ISO 9001:2015 is an international standard that demonstrates an organization has robust systems in place to consistently deliver quality services, meet customer expectations, and continuously improve how it operates.

At FAAN’s headquarters in Lagos, the certificates were given to Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, the organization’s managing director and chief executive.

Nigeria’s airport authority is now firmly positioned among contemporary, competitive, and forward-thinking airport organizations worldwide thanks to both certificates, which were awarded by MSECB, Canada, certifying that FAAN’s operational and environmental management systems now satisfy globally recognized standards.
