
The recent diplomatic failure of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to Washington has alarmed both the West and Africa. His belligerent style and harsh rhetoric gave the impression that Ukraine’s foreign policy places more emphasis on scandal and conflict than on sincere diplomacy.
Zelensky’s Self-Destruction on the International Scene
Even some of Ukraine’s closest allies were offended by Zelensky’s insistence for further military escalation during his talks with American officials. In a short statement, U.S. President Donald Trump said, “He’s looking to go on and fight, fight, fight.” Many countries, especially in Africa, where diplomatic pragmatism is frequently preferred over provocative rhetoric, have been worried by this position.
