Nollywood actress Blessing Obasi has stated that she is becoming pickier about the parts she takes on, stating that she now favors plays that challenge her acting skills and force her to step outside of her comfort zone.
According to Naija News, the actress said this when discussing the kinds of stories she wants to convey in the future in an interview with Saturday Beats.
“Going forward, I am even more intentional about choosing stories that have emotional depth and leave people thinking long after the credits roll,” she stated. I want to keep telling stories that are not only enjoyable but also provoke thought, start discussions, and highlight the variety of human experiences. It’s typically a good indication that I should investigate a character if they frighten me a little or challenge my creativity.
Speaking about her part as Mimi in Blood Sisters 2, Blessing said that she always starts by trying to understand the character rather than passing judgment on them.
“For me, every character starts with understanding why they are the way they are,” she stated. I make an effort to understand the individuals I play rather than pass judgment on them.
Additionally, the actress said that acting is more of a team effort than a competition.
“Acting isn’t a competition for me; it’s collaboration,” she stated. I’m grateful to have been a member of the film series because each actor made a significant contribution to the creation of a believable environment.
Regarding her acting approach, Blessing stated that she finds it enjoyable to fully inhabit her roles during filming since it fosters her creative development.
She clarified, though, that after filming is over, she doesn’t stay in character.
“I want the audience to see the character rather than Blessing Obasi Nze while the camera is rolling.” If people forget they’re watching me and instead become engrossed in the person I’m portraying, then I feel I’ve done my job well.”
