In response to increased security concerns in the Northeast, the Adamawa State Government moved 12 National Examination Council (NECO) centers to safer sites.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Human Development, Hajiya Aisha Mohammed Umar, said the decision follows the recent abduction of children and instructors in adjacent Borno State on June 29, 2026.
She said the incident aroused concerns regarding the safety of pupils, teachers, invigilators, supervisors and NECO personnel.
Umar added that the move was a precautionary measure aimed at protecting applicants and examination workers while guaranteeing the smooth conduct of the ongoing NECO examinations.
She emphasized that the choice was made with the state’s best interests and the security of its teachers and pupils in mind.
She claims that unless the security situation changes, the relocation will continue.

The government looks for collaboration
The ministry urged the public, NECO authorities, and the administration of the impacted institutions to completely comply with the directive.
Additionally, it asked community leaders and school administrators to make sure that the removal order was strictly followed right away.
The government reiterated its dedication to safeguarding kids and making sure that educational activities take place in a secure setting.
