In an attempt to appeal to a global audience, Grammy-nominated Nigerian artist David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, has rejected plans to use Western sounds.
Davido said this in an interview with Eddie Kadi on the Official UK Afrobeats Chart Show, according to Naija News.
Speaking openly about his experience in the music business, Davido claimed to have accomplished a great deal in his career, including touring all over the world and winning numerous Grammy nominations in the previous three years.
The “OBO” crooner asked fans to keep an eye out for the next stage of his career, insisting that he is content with his accomplishments and is currently concentrating on his origins by creating unapologetic African music.
“I have performed everywhere, sold out every arena, and attended three Grammys in the last three years,” he stated. The upcoming track is highly African and Davido. We have done it so I am not really looking to really do western sounds.”
The singer also discussed the support he receives from his South African followers, asserting that “80 percent” of South Africans are familiar with him and adore his songs.
Over the years, Davido has worked with a number of South African musicians and obtained numerous certifications from the nation’s music business.
