FG and contractors reaffirm their resolve to finishing the N777 billion Abuja-Kano Road by April.

The Federal Government and Infouest Nigeria Limited, the contractors managing section one of the N777 billion Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Expressway, have reaffirmed their dedication to the April 2026 completion date.

Initially given to Julius Berger Nigeria PLC, the project was reawarded to Infouest under a new contract that called for the use of reinforced concrete pavement rather than asphalt due to a disagreement over cost and completion schedule.

During a media tour of the Abuja portion of the project, Chukuma Kalu, a corporate representative, told reporters that the company is willing and committed to completing the project by the April date.

He claims that the business works nonstop to finish the remaining portions of the project, which was granted in two lots.

According to Kalu, the project consists of a 6.63-kilometer dual asphalt wearing course overlay in Kano State, a 17.3-kilometer asphalt portion connecting the Kano-Zaria route, and a 40.5-kilometer dual CRCP stretch totaling 81 kilometers.

“So far, we have finished the 6.63 dual asphalt road in Kano, which leads to Kano Airport and is lined with street lights.

“The 17.3-kilometer asphalt road that leads to the Kano-Zaria road is roughly 80% finished.”

He went on to say that 60 of the 81 kilometers of CRCP have been finished, leaving 21 kilometers that must be delivered by the end of April.

Kalu continued, “We work day and night to make sure we meet our targets of completing 81 kilometers by the end of April.”

Speaking during the visit, Mohammed Ahmed, the Ministry’s Director of Information and Public Relations, stated that President Bola Tinubu and Minister of Works, Engineer David Umahi, held the project in high regard.

“This project, like similar projects nationwide, is central to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which the Minister of Works Engineer said.” Additionally, David Umahi is dedicated to resolving the road infrastructure issue.

Similar trips were made by the inspection team to China Harbour Engineering Construction Company’s N73.8 billion Maraba-Keffi Road project, which is scheduled to be finished in June 2026.
